“The Goal”
is released on DVD
Denver independent film is released nationally on DVD
Denver—Local filmmaker, Darla Rae’s feature film which she wrote,
directed, and produced, “The Goal,” was released nationally on DVD on
October 10, 2006 by Maverick Entertainment. Maverick officially
purchased the distribution rights to the film for United States and
international DVD and television on May 31, 2006.
“The Goal,” which can be rented at “Blockbuster”, and purchased online
at Blockbuster, Barnes and Noble, Circuit City, and Best Buy, started
out twelve years ago as a way to tell the story of how a friend became a
quadriplegic and how he overcame adversity through wheelchair rugby and
has become an inspiring story for many. It also has the potential to
raise awareness about quadriplegics as well as a fundraiser for them.
Some of the profits from “The Goal” will be put into a fund to build a
facility in the Colorado region for all wheelchair athletes.
“I couldn’t believe what I saw when I walked into Blockbuster the other
day to rent a movie, and right there on the shelf were two spaces for my
film and one of the spaces was empty. I think it is so cool to think
that maybe even as I am saying this, that someone is at home watching
the film that I made. My dream really has come true.” said Rae.
Rae is still in awe over the big things that have happened to her movie.
The film has won three awards, been bought for television and DVD
distribution, released on DVD, and played limited release screenings in
Denver and Houston. Future theatrical releases include Michigan Rae
said,” I always knew that this would be a good film, but I never
realized how big it could truly be. I feel very blessed.”
Although “The Goal” was released nationally on DVD, copies of the film
can be purchased on the “The Goal” website at
www.thegoal-film.com.
More information about wheelchair rugby can be found on the website as
well.
