encourages possibility on and off screen
Local filmmaker spreads hope through acting workshops using
everyday scenarios
Denver— Darla Rae of Film It Productions runs
children's acting workshops that give more to her students than a new
skill. Her workshops also teach children about understanding, respect,
and the possibilities life can have through everyday scenarios.
Rae is very passionate about teaching and has said that it is something
she feels must be shared with the younger generations. “I try to teach
these workshops using examples that teach more that just acting. I want
these children to learn to be more tolerant and excepting of others all
well as gain self esteem,” said Rae.
Rae not only teaches acting workshops, but has also written, directed,
and produced a full length feature film called, “The Goal.” The film
follows two up and coming athletes who suffer spinal cord injuries
making them quadriplegics. These two young men overcome their new
obstacles and find possibility through wheelchair rugby.
“The Goal” has had several screenings and has been received very well.
“It was the poet Emily Dickenson who claimed, `I dwell in possibility…'
To see `The Goal' is to experience and excite possibility beyond and
definition or drama any poet has probed or pinned,” said Pastor Ron
Swenson.
The theatrical release of “The Goal” will be in September, 2006. For
