SDenver, CO, —Perchance to Dream, produced by Solaceskies, Film It Productions and RMCAD, (Rocky Mtn. College of Art & Design) made a big splash during its world premiere on Friday March 27th to audiences during the South Beach International Animation Festival in Ft. Lauderdale. The film won the audience award for Best Animated Short. The film’s animator and director Lauren Kimball was on hand to receive the prize - a one-foot tall Gold Flamingo. Kimball completed the film as a student project while attending the arts academy located in Lakewood Colorado. “Without RMCAD and their facility, my instructors, and my team, none of this would have been possible, said Kimball. Kimball will graduate in December this year from RMCAD with a double major in 2D and 3D animation.

"Perchance to Dream” offers a new prospective in the life of Miami Seaquarium’s star performer “Lolita” She dazzles and she amazes, but what happens behind those intelligent and soulful eyes? What happens when the world’s top predator is turned into a circus clown? Animator, and Director Lauren Kimball was inspired to create “Perchance to Dream" while doing research to enhance her ability to animate animal movements. “I’ve always had a love for whales. At one time I had a desire to become a trainer, but then realized that it was morally wrong to me. While studying whales I became aware of Lolita’s story and wanted to show how animation could benefit in raising awareness regarding Lolita, as well as helping other animal causes. This is an opportunity to present a different view on something considered socially acceptable,” said Kimball. Darla Rae of Film it Productions is producer and will be distributing the animated short. “Lauren worked as an intern for Film It, and has become an integral member of our production team. She is very talented, and when she showed me the piece that she was working on, I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. That’s when I made a decision to help her. As a result of her great work and approach to life I know others will get behind Lauren and “Perchance to Dream” and congratulate her on a job well done,” said Rae.
